Alan Brian Beck, 56 of West Salem died Friday January 22, 2016 at his home. Memorial Services will be Thursday February 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Father Joseph Seebaur officiating. Online condolences may be shared at the funeral home website www.mattesonfh.com . He was born September 7, 1959 in Wooster the son of Joseph and Rosemarie (DeJohn) Beck. He had been employed at the Goodwill Industries in Wooster. Alan’s family was very important to him, he taught his children to be honest, self-reliant and independent. He was very generous and had a big heart to a fault. Alan would stop whatever he was doing, anytime, anywhere, day or night, to help family and friends. He was also known to help a stranger change a tire alongside the road. Alan could fix or repair anything from cars to machinery, even children’s toys. If he couldn’t find it in the stores he made it himself. He was known to family and friends as Mr. Fix-it and a mechanical genius rolled into one. He was indispensable. He enjoyed Seinfeld, Married with Children, Everybody Loves Raymond & The Big Bang Theory. He collected antiques, rocks, minerals especially fossils and arrowheads and made furniture, lawn decorations and wall hangings. He was the best gift buyer, always picked the perfect things for birthdays. He loved living in the country, landscaping and gardening. He loved to travel to Kentucky and Tennessee to spend time with his loving wife. His devotion to his wife and family was obvious to all. You couldn’t ask for a better husband, father or brother. He is survived by his wife Brenda (Cade) Beck, children, Alan (Jessica) Beck Jr of West Salem. and Candice Beck of Wooster, step children, Carl Baer and Brandon Baer Sr. of West Salem, grandchildren, Erica, Gavin & Cameron, step grandchildren, Brandon Jr., and Avacyn, brothers, Larry and Kenneth Beck of Wooster and sister Kathy (David )Eyestone of Westerville, Ohio His parents died previously.
