Stanley Kirkpatrick Obituary

Congress–Stanley M. Kirkpatrick, 80, of Congress died peacefully on Wednesday, April 13th, 2022, at his beloved residence surrounded by his family.

He was born on August 16, 1941 in Newport, Ohio to Myron and Juanita (Travis) Kirkpatrick. He married his highschool sweetheart Sue (Clason) Kirkpatrick on December 14th, 1963. Sue and Stan were married for 59 years before his passing. They are members of Congress Community Church.

Stan graduated from Northwestern in 1959. He then went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard. Stan worked at Frito-Lay for 41 years until he retired to take care of a family member. Stan was a kind and patient man who loved his family and always put them first. He enjoyed visiting car shows and casinos. Stan loved playing cards, tinkering in the garage, and watching his grandchildren play sports. He also enjoyed mowing his lawn and watching his hummingbirds from the porch.

He is survived by his loving wife Sue (Clason) Kirkpatrick and his children Kris (Rod) Traver of Wooster and Sandy (Ray) Kowatch of Loudonville; Grandchildren Corey (Sophia) Kowatch of Lima, Ben and Garrett Traver of Wooster; and a great-grandchild Milo Kowatch. Stan also is survived by 2 sisters Ann Hines and Dorothy Lemon both of West Salem and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Jerry of Loudonville and two brothers-in-law Ellsworth Hines and Paul Lemon both of West Salem.

The family is grateful to all the kindness and compassion shown by all the members of Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare team. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691 or Congress Community Church 10691 Franchester Rd., West Salem, OH 44287.

In keeping with Stan’s wishes, no calling hours are planned. There will be a private graveside service for immediate family members at Congress Cemetery at a later date.
