Ruth Irene (Symonds) Hawkins

Ruth I. Hawkins, 88 of West Salem passed peacefully with her loved ones by her side on Monday November 7, 2022 at Burbank Parke Care Center in Burbank, Ohio

She was born on January 18, 1934 in Norwich, New York the daughter of Martin and Ruth (Alling) Symonds.

 Ruth was a member of the West Salem United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and played in the chime choir. She was a member of the West Salem Messenger Paper staff. She sang with the Singing Granny.

Ruth enjoyed putting puzzles together, watching birds and spending time with her family and also her church family.

She is survived by her children; John (Karen) Tate, Ruth (Mitch) Fuson, Mary (Ray) Engel and Sandy Maynard (Albert Talcott), and many grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces and nephews.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband; Warren Hawkins, son; Robert Tate, grandson; Gary Elswick Jr., son-in-law; Dexter Maynard, daughter- in-law; Venis Tate parents and all of her siblings.

Funeral Service will be Friday November 11,2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the West Salem United Methodist Church, 80 East Buckeye Street, West Salem with Pastors James Westermann and Martha Mathatas officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial in Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster, Ohio.
