Patricia L. Piper-Banaszak, 69 of West Salem died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Cleveland Clinic, Akron General Medical Center. Pat was born in Westerly, Rhode Island on September 9, 1952 to parents Willard & Wilhemina (Mello) Collins. For most of her career she was a financial manager at Ganley Auto Sales and then became the financial manager for Spitzer Motors, both in the Cleveland area. In her retirement she worked at the West Salem IGA as a cashier. She enjoyed traveling, working in her small town and mostly spending time with her family.
Pat leaves behind her husband: Jim Banaszak; children: Michelle Koziol (Don), Jennifer Akers (Barry) and Jimmy Piper (Mary); grandchildren: Ashley (Karlo), Nicholas, Barry, Miranda, Anthony (Sierra), Marcus, Alyssa, Andrea and Aaron; great grandchild: Dennis; siblings: Donna Duclos (Bob), Sharon Pisapia (Cristoforo) and Willard Collins (Sue). She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Service for Pat will be held Friday December 3, 2021 @ 1:00 PM at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastor Christian McAllister officiating. After the service there will be a gathering at the West Salem American Post 499, 337 Congress Street, West Salem, Ohio. Any memorial contributions can be sent to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/donate/. Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem is assisting the family.
