Moses M Moore

Moses M. Moore, 83, of West Salem Ohio, formerly Akron, passed through the everlasting gates of glory on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in the comfort of his home with his family.

Moses was born March 24, 1940 in Nebo West Virginia to the late Lee and Obelia Moore and lived most of his life in West Salem Ohio.

Moses married Sharon Nichols in 1981, they have been happily married for 42 years and she survives.

Moses was a member of the Mohican Brethren Church of West Salem, and retired from Morton Salt in Rittman Ohio after 28 years of service in 2002. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, hunting, fishing, gardening, and raising animals. He was also a gifted writer and wood craftsman and he loved to joke around, but the highlight of his life was spending time with family, friends, and his many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife Sharon, are; daughters Patricia Johnson of Ashland; Selena (Thurman) Allan of Texas; sons Arthur Moore of Akron, John (Vicki) Moore of West Salem, Glen (Katherine) Moore of Wadsworth; brother Roger (Debbie) Moore of Akron; sister Hazel “Toots” Reich of Wadsworth; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents Lee Roy and Obelia Moore; sisters, Donna Bylsma, Pamela and Mary Moore, Rosie Maxine Dye, and Geneva Rauch; brothers, Jerry, Danny, Ronald, Billy, Michael Moore, Sr., Kenneth Moore, and sons Samuel, Carl, and Mathew.

The funeral service for Moses will be on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 12:00 PM at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastor Paul Bartholomew officiating..  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth, Ohio.
