Larry V. West, 83 passed peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep on Saturday, Jan 11, 2020. Larry was born in Black Ground, Alabama on January 19th, 1936. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Lee, of 53 years, in 2008. He is survived by two sons; Larry Wayne (Betty) West and James Allen (Lora) West; three grandchildren; Michael West, Jessica West and Jake (Brooke) West; two brothers, Robert (Diane) Lovelady and Tommy (Joyce) Lovelady and a sister, Toney Cole and many nieces and nephews.
Larry grew up in Alabama, moved to Cleveland to find work as a teen, met and married Cora Lee and had been an Ohio resident all except one year (Tennessee) since that time. Larry grew up having never met his biological father, but the most important moment of his life was when he repented of his sin and met his Heavenly Father through the grace of and his faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ in 2000. He lived the last 20 years as a changed, redeemed and forgiven, not a perfect man. He was reunited with His Lord and Savior in his eternal home last Saturday. He worshipped and served His Savior since his salvation time at First Baptist Church in West Salem, Ohio.
A visitation followed immediately by a Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church of West Salem, Ohio on Saturday, January 18th, 2020. Visitation will be 11:00-1:00 with the Funeral Service at 1:00 with Pastors James West and Jerry Arman officiating. Burial in West Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, 129 S Main Street, West Salem 44287 or Matteson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 314, West Salem, Ohio 44287 to help with funeral expenses.
