Obituary

WOOSTER, OH - Kenneth M. Becker II, 74, passed away on February 11, 2023, at Life Care Hospice following a period of declining health. Ken was born in Ashland Ohio on December 24, 1948, to Kenneth and Lucille (Leedy) Becker. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1967 and joined the US Army Reserves in 1968 where he served until 1974. During that time, he also worked as an auto mechanic and a truck driver. He went on to be a co-owner of New Pittsburg Motors for 37 years. He also proudly served on the New Pittsburg Fire Department, where he acted as chief for 20 years from 1993-2013. Ken was a life-long member of Reedsburg Lutheran Church, where he held many positions and enjoyed teaching the adult Sunday School class. Ken was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting on the family farm with his father and son. He also enjoyed attending his son-in-law’s sporting events. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 16th from 4-7pm at Matteson’s Funeral Home, West Salem. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 17th at 1pm with Pastor Kirk Fairhurst officiating. Interment will be at Congress Cemetery, following the services. Ken is survived by his wife Shirley Becker, his children Ken (Amanda) Becker, Kathy (Mike) Smith, stepchildren Tracey (TK) Kendall, Tonda Boreman, step grandchildren Ashley (Derek) Dibling, Taylor Smith, Thomas Willison, sister Judy (Jim) Cannon, stepmother Nona Becker, stepbrothers Jerry (Diane) Hixson, Jim Hixson, stepsisters Jane Moore (Art Fredrickson), Judy (Bob) Rodi, Jean (Sam) Humphrey and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at West View Healthy Living for their dedicated care over the last two and half years.
