Kathleen M. Ulferts 63, of Homerville was called home on December 10, 2021 after a hard battle with sickness, at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster, Ohio. Kathi was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Richard Sr. and Judith (Tibbits) Manco on June 25, 1958. She married the love of her life Mike Ulferts on September 10, 1977. They were happily in love for 44 years. She was a school bus driver for at Black River Schools for 33 years. She received great joy from making sure the precious cargo made it back and forth to school safely.
Kathi enjoyed spending her time canning, crocheting, camping and spending time with her grandson, Owen. She also loved spending time with her friends and family. When her kids were younger, she was very involved with their activities. She was an Assistant scout leader for Girl Scouts, involved in helping with the 4-H and FFA groups. She always enjoyed helping her kids where ever she could. In more recent years she loved taking her daughter Elizabeth to horse shows and helping at the show however she could. Whenever she could Kathi also went to watch Owen play baseball and football and she would cheer from the sidelines for him. She loved being involved with her kids’ lives whenever she could be.
Kathi leaves behind her loving husband: Michael Ulferts; 3 children: Jonathan Ulferts, Nicole (Nathan) Kahler and Elizabeth Ulferts; grandson: Owen; siblings: Annette (Terry), Richard (Kim), Scott (Janie), Tanya (Nestor) and Deanna (Dave); sister in law: Lisa and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Ronald.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday June 5th at 3:00 p.m.at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Steve Walker officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 with a service following . Any memorial contributions can be sent to your local SPCA.
