John J Broome, 92 of West Salem died Wednesday, November, 18, 2020 peacefully in his home. John was born in Summerfield, Ohio to parents Charles Henry and Erna Ardis (Moore) Broome on February 26, 1928. He graduated from Polk High School. John served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married his wife Lynette Broome on Dec. 29, 1960. He retired in 1987 after working for Erie-Lackawanna Railroad and Conrail for 44 years. John was a member of the Albion Brethren Church and James Stevenson American Legion Post 499.
John leaves behind his children: Lynette Ann (Lloyd) Kuehling of Colby, Wisconsin; Layton (Cathy) Broome of Jeromesville; Lenny (Betty) Broome of Doylestown; John Jay (Pam) Broome of Colby, Wisconsin and Mark (Prayong) Broome of West Salem; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife: Lynette; son: Loren Broome; grandson: Todd; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be held Monday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home West Salem, Ohio. The Funeral Service for John will be on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Potosky officiating. John will be buried at Albion Cemetery where military rites will be being conducted by James Stevenson American Legion Post 499. Memorials may be given to Albion Brethren Church, 246 Co.
