Howard Kolp Jr

Howard Kolp Jr. of West Salem died at his home on Sunday May 5th, 2019. He was born June 3rd, 1928 in West Salem to parents Howard and Leola (Kamp) Kolp Sr. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Florence (Sherrick) Kolp whom he married August 28th, 1950. Howard served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952 – 1954.  He retired from Gerstenslager Co in Wooster after forty-three and a half years where he worked as a tow motor operator. He was a member of the Mohican Church of the Brethren. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets. He also enjoyed spending his time working on cars and lawn mowers.

Howard is also survived by his  sons, Tim (Laura) Kolp and Jerry (Terri) Kolp; four grandchildren, Kirk (Natalie) Kolp, Rachel (Jonathan) Duncan, Clint (Kristin) Kolp and Stephanie (Patrick) Martinez; and 5 great grandchildren Noah, Luke and Calvin Kolp, Harper and Hattie Martinez.

His parents, sisters Treva Ward, Iva Hines, Florence Jacobs and twin infant sister and brother, Miriam Kolp and  Merle Kolp; and a great granddaughter Renee Kolp died previously.

The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, May 8th, 2019 at 11 o’clock at the Mohican Church of the Brethren with Pastor Paul Bartholomew officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Mohican Church of the Brethren Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Legion Post 499.
