David L. Hastings 76, of West Salem died August 30, 2021 at Danbury in Wooster after his battle with Lewy Body Dementia. David was born to parents Don and Ruth Hastings on February 3, 1945 in Lodi, Ohio. During his life he farmed, worked for CSX Transportation and was a Congress Township trustee for 8 years. He enjoyed hunting, watching his grandchildren show at the fair and being a 4-H advisor.
Dave leaves behind his wife: Kim (Harrison) Hastings who he married on January 12, 1980; 6 children: Mike (Beth) Hastings, Tim (Melissa) Hastings, Tom (Debbie) Hastings, Greg Hastings, Jason (Macy) Hastings and Ashley (Bobby) Compton; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 siblings: Donna (Gary) Pendleton, Barb (Rick) Mendenhall and Sue (Lee) Bridenstein; 4 nieces and 5 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held for Dave on September 4, 2021 at 12 at Congress Community Church with Pastor Tad Sponseller and son, Michael Hastings officiating the services. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, prior to the services. Inurnment will be in Congress Cemetery.
