Claude M. Hill Sr. (Big Mike) 71 of West Salem, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 15th, 2022. He leaves his wife Cathy Hill of 58 years. Claude was born in Raven, Virginia on November 28, 1950 to parents James Luther Hill and Myrtle Mae Shelton.
Together Mike and Cathy owned and operated the Village Cornerstone Restaurant in West Salem, Ohio. Mike had six children: Mindy Leaver, Claude M. Hill Jr., Roxanne Hill, Sonja Hill, Kim Hill and Chrystal Hill. He was a pawpaw to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind some very special friends of many years: Shirl Evans, Mike Mcfadden, Tom Stevenson and Larry Rose. He had a very special bond with his brother-in-law Chuck Blevens who was like another brother to him. He also leaves two sisters Sonja Taulbee and Sylvia Cruey of Wooster, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Betty, Dorothy, Clifford, Ted, Brenda and Sharon.
He loved fishing, playing cards with family, family gatherings and taking car rides with his wife. He enjoyed his family restaurant and loved giving his community a place to gather. He took great pride in making his pizzas.
A very special Thank you to the Town & Country Fire Department and volunteers for their compassion and care over the last year. He will be greatly missed by many.
