Charles Nelson Anderson of West Salem left this world to be with the Lord at the age of 95. He was at home with his beloved wife Margaret. They celebrated 38 years of marriage last month.
Charles is survived by two daughters; Beth (Alan) Staton and Laura (Rick) Walters. He is also survived by stepdaughter; Veronica (Chris) Meyer, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and his sister, Joyce (Richard) Komjati.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ethel Anderson and a grandson, Charles Becker.
Charles grew up in Brunswick, Ohio. The family lived upstairs over the general store which was run by his parents.
He served in the Navy in World War II. After a long career with Medina Supply Company, he retired as general manager.
Charles and Margaret enjoyed spending winters in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. An avid lifelong hunter and fisherman, Charles made yearly fishing trips to Canada. By far, he was most happy in a duck blind with his trusty black lab by his side. He was a longtime member of Congress Community Church, The Northwestern Ruritans, James Stevenson American Post 499 and was active in Ducks Unlimited for many years. He was a former member of the Lions Club.
Funeral Service will be Saturday September 17, 2022 @ 12:00 p.m. at the Congress Community Church with Pastor Tadd Sponseller officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial in Congress Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Legion Post 499 of West Salem. Memorials may be given to Congress Community Church, 10691 Franchester Road, West Salem, Ohio 44287. Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem is handling the arrangements.
