Billie Anne Massie, 85 of West Salem died Thursday, November 7, 2024 at her home. She was born March 14, 1939 in New London, Ohio the daughter of Clinton and Mildred (Triplett) Frank
Billie Anne married Boyd O. Massie 8/24/1958.
She never met a stranger and she always tried to figure out a way to make you family.
Billie Anne enjoyed grooming her flower beds and mowing lawn on her zero-turn mower. She enjoyed
entertaining on her deck and Gazebo and loved hosting euchre parties with her beloved staff from Med-
Central Hospital.
She lived on the farm her parents brought her home to when was born. She loved the pond and the
beautiful sunsets with the reflections over the pond.
Billie Anne enjoyed volunteering at the Ashland County Health Department with the Medical Reserve Corp.
She volunteered for several groups such as the Safe Communities Task Force. She loved being able to
give back to her community.
She was a volunteer on many boards and enjoyed her work as an Ashland University Board of Trustee
member and served on numerous committees.
Billie Anne was a member of Garfield and Ashland Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She was a 60 year member
and was a Past- Matron twice.
She was a volunteer for the Amish Health and Safety Day and attended 13 health and safety day events.
She loved helping her Amish neighbors.
A special thanks to Gentiva Hospice, especially Dr. Pierre El Hachem, Holly, Tiffany, Ashley, Marty and
Dave. A special thanks to the Council on Aging and also to Chelbi Robinson for pampering her.
Her Funeral Service will be Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at the Albion Bible Church, 246 County Road
620, West Salem.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 pm. Eastern Star services will start at 1:00. Matthew Potosky will
officiate her funeral service.
Matteson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Charitable donations may be sent to Gentiva Hospice in Mount Vernon or the Albion Bible Church
Cemetery fund or to Ashland University Dwight Schar School of Nursing scholarship.
Billie Anne is survived by her three children, Charles (Tiffany) Massie, Shirley (Jon) Bixby, Patricia Rzesnowiecky:
her adored grandchildren Steve (Kelly) Neff, James, Jocelynn and John Bixby, Brooke, Charity, Emily
Massie, Alexis Rzesnowiecky, Dustin, Cecil, Sylas, Reggie, Kallan, Cole, Jakob, Ryleigh, Stephanie (Dustin )
Twamley and Cadence, Connor and Brennyn (Hayley) Bryte. Her sisters Fredaline Healy of Bremerton,
Washington, and Marie (Danny) Richmond of Millersville, Missouri.
Special friends Barbara Courie and Amy Caskey
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Boyd O. Massie and Sisters Geraldine Farris
and Sue Schmetzer. Son-in-law Stefan Rzesnowiecky and Grandson Bear Rzesnowiecky
Billie Anne graduated from High School at Homerville. She then attended M.B. Johnson School of Nursing and
St. Joseph's College earning her Bachelor degree.
Billie Anne retired from Professional Nursing August 2013 after 40 years. During her nursing career she
worked at Elyria Memorial Hospital, Tampa General, Samaritan Hospital, Med-Central Hospital where
she retired.
She attended the Albion Bible Church where she was an active Board Member and Cemetery Sexton.
Billie Anne was so proud of her children and grand-children and especially enjoyed going to Las Vegas to watch
her grandson Bear race. She also enjoyed watching her granddaughter Alexis show horses and ice skate.
