William F Kratzer

William F Kratzer, 89 of Ashland died Sat. March 29, 2014 at Brethren Care in Ashland.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday April 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastor Floyd Costello officiating.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services.  Burial in Ashland Cemetery with military services conducted by James Stephenson American Legion Post 499 of West Salem.  Memorials may be given to the Gideons International, P.O. He was born in Ashland on Feb. 9, 1925 the son of Clare & Clara (Schaum) Kratzer.
He served in the US Army during WW II.

He married Ilean (Ramsier) Kratzer on Jan 5, 1946 who died August 18, 2010.
He retired March 1, 1987 from General Motors in Mansfield. Then after his retirement Bill did a tape ministry to nursing homes in Ashland County.
He was member of the Grace Brethren Church in Ashland.


He is survived by four children, Denver (Char) Mendenhall of Wadsworth, Gloria (Raymond) Howman of Ashland, Barbara (Gary) Hochstetler and Patricia (Daniel) Strine of Ashland, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a sister Janice Holmes of Ashland.



His parents, son Thomas Mendenhall, brothers, Vernon and Wayne Kratzer and a great grandson, Ezekiel Howman died previously.
