Virginia Lee (Martin) Widdows

September 18, 1930 — June 5, 2024

Virginia (Ginny) Lee Martin Widdows was born to the late Thomas & Bessie Walker (Shanks) Martin on September 18, 1930 in Smoke Run, PA.

She attended grade school in Beccaria & Ramey, PA. She attended High School in Madera where she was Valedictorian of her class.

Upon graduation she moved to Cleveland, Ohio to live with her brother. She worked at Cleveland Trust and National City Bank. She met and married her late husband, Richard E. Widdows in 1951. They resided in Brunswick, Ohio for 28 years before relocating to West Salem, Ohio. Virginia retired to Wooster in 2004.

Ginny liked to travel, loved to do Sudoku/crossword puzzles and crochet. She has been a member of garden clubs, various church groups and the Red Hat Society. Ginny is a member of the Nova United Methodist Church.

She is survived by four children, Richard E. Widdows of Cleveland Heights; Judith Angeline (Raymond) of North Ridgeville, Barbara Roth (Timothy) of Ocala, Florida; Pamela Golden (Edward) of Seville and six grandchildren Jennifer Walton (Shawn), Ashley Widdows, Brian Widdows (Katie), Crystal Roth ( Joshua Roaf ), Amanda Trimble (Charles), and Rebecca Angeline; 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Widdows in 1996 and her brother Thomas Martin in 2013.

Virginia will be buried at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.  There will be a Celebration of Life for Virginia on June 14, 2024  at 11:00 a.m.at the West Salem United Methodist Church with Pastor Beryl Baum officiating the service. Memorials can be sent to Suncrest Hospice 6500 Rockskide Road Suite #130 Independence, Ohio 44131. Matteson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
