Virgil E. Swartz 92, one of the oldest residents in West Salem died Thursday Jan 5, 2012 at Akron General Medical Center.
Funeral services will be Monday Jan. 9, 2012 @ 12:00 at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastor Brad Ingram officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. Burial in Burbank Cemetery.

He was born August 8, 1919 in Medina Co., Ohio the son of Ira and Beatrice (Milkey) Swartz.
He retired in 1984 from U-Brand Corp in Ashland after 37 years of service.
He is a member of International Molders & Allied Workers Union Local 258 and the Truth Baptist Church of West Salem.
Virgil enjoyed fishing and baseball.
He is survived by sons- Mel Swartz of Wooster and Daniel (Debbie) Swartz of Ashland
Two grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a half sister Helen Weber of Congress.
His wife Bertha in 1999, parents, a brother Donald and step brother Ray Gable and step sister Esther Shira died previously.
