Stephen Anthony Doerfler

Stephen Doerfler of Wooster, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 18th at the age of 73. He was born on February 12,1953 to Wilfred and Nellie Doerfler in Hays, Kansas.

After graduating from the Wayne County Career Center in auto-mechanics, he worked his way up to a managerial position at Agency-Rent- A-Car and then decided to open his own used car business, which he successfully ran until 2015.

He married Cheryl Boatner in 1975 and they shared life together for 51 years. Steve was known for faithfully studying and teaching God’s Word. He enjoyed all things cars, lifting weights, and listening to music.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilfred and Nellie Doerfler and his younger brother John Doerfler.

He is survived by his siblings Jamie (Sue) Doerfler, Christopher (Betsy) Doerfler, Mary (John) Wheeler, Michael (Dori) Doerfler, and Julie (Doug) Fiore, his wife Cherri Doerfler, his children Matt (Amy) Doerfler, Amanda (Lukas) Gaffey, Rebecca (Andrew) Hemming, Aaron (Mandy) Doerfler, and 15 loved grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at Wooster Nazarene Church on Wednesday September 23, 2026 from 4:30-6pm followed by a memorial service.
