Rodney L Ickes Sr., 71 of West Salem died Sunday Dec. 28, 2014 at his home.
Funeral Services will be Saturday January 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastor Dean Hammond officiating.
Visitation will be Friday 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Burial in Fair Haven Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Post 499 of West Salem. Online condolences may be shared at the funeral home website@www.mattesonfh.com
He was born September 14, 1943 in Wooster, Ohio the son of Ralph James and Kathleen (Harrison) Ickes.
He served in US Navy during the Vietnam War.
He had been employed at Rubbermaid in Wooster for 34 years as a set up operator.
He is a member of Ashland Am vets Post 0096, Ashland Moose Lodge 1383, Ashland VFW Post 1067, Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Ashland and American Legion Post 749 of Ashland.
He is survived by children, Rodney (Lisa) Ickes Jr of Wooster, Eric James of West Salem and Christina Bowersock of Spencer, 6 grandchildren and a great granddaughter
His parents, brother, Ralph Larry Ickes and sister Gail Rathburn died previously.
