Robert V. Webb, affectionately known as Bob, passed away on May 10, 2026, at the Autumnwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rittman, Ohio. Born on January 26, 1952, in Cleveland, Bob led a life marked by dedication to family, community, and service.
Bob honorably served his country in the United States Navy, exemplifying the values of loyalty and commitment. After his military service, he pursued academic excellence, obtaining a master’s degree in Social Work. His professional career included meaningful work as a social worker at the Christian Children Home, where his compassion and expertise touched many lives.
Together with his beloved wife, Janet Carol (Crabtree) Webb, whom he married on August 1, 1971, Bob shared a rich partnership spanning over five decades. The couple initially embarked on a joint business venture owning a restaurant in Ruggles before moving to West Salem. Bob further demonstrated his enterprising spirit as the owner and operator of Webb Trucking, where he proudly drove trucks for over 30 years. In addition to his professional endeavors, Bob and Janet opened their home to therapeutic foster care for more than 35 years, providing nurturing support to many children in need.
Bob was a devoted member of the Truth Baptist Church in West Salem, reflecting his faith and commitment to his community. His dedication to family was profound and enduring. He is survived by his cherished wife, Janet; sons Robert Webb Jr. and Eric Webb, both of whom reside at home; as well as 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way who continue his legacy. He also leaves behind his sisters Lynna (Terry) Morrison of Polk, Laura (Earl) Erswell of Georgia, and Peggy Sue (Floyd) Morrison of West Salem.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya; his parents; sisters Helen Webb and Alice Westfall; and brother Mitchell Webb. His memory is lovingly honored by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation at the Matteson Funeral Home, located at 40 Congress Road in West Salem, Ohio, on May 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the same location, with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating the service. Burial at Congress Cemetery on Stratton Road in West Salem following the funeral.
