Richard Henry Palange, 78, of Cinnamon Lake passed away unexpectedly on November 2, 2024 while
being treated at Medina Hospital. He battled lung cancer for a year and a half.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
Richard was born on September 7, 1946 to the late Henry J and Gilda Palange in Cleveland, Ohio. On
June 22, 1968, he married Mildred (Yanovich). They shared 56 years together.
After high school he enlisted into the United States Army. Serving in the Vietnam War. Upon returning
to the states, he and his family opened Henry J. and Sons Sohio on the corner of Fulton and Denison in
Cleveland. After BP took over, he found a 30-year driving career with ABF Systems retiring in 2009.
Richard was a natural born handyman; he could fix anything. He had a charm about him that those
whom knew him, were delighted with. He enjoyed auctions, flea markets, garage sales; buying and
selling just about anything. He raised his family to love the outdoors; taking his sons and grandson on
regular hunting and fishing trips. Richard adored his granddaughters. He was their biggest fan at all
that they involved themselves in. He collected Sohio memorabilia for the past 40 years. He was a
lifelong Cleveland Browns fan. During his retirement he traveled to Watertown, NY and Dundee, Fl.
Making lasting friendships along the way.
Those left to cherish memories of Richard are his spouse, Mildred (Yanovich); children Jennifer (Tyson)
Neely, Joseph (Megan) Palange and Richard (Carol) Palange; grandchildren Nicholas (Cynthia) Palange,
Samantha Neely, Allyson Neely, and Henry J. Neely; great-grandchild, Micheal Palange.
Richard is proceeded in death by his parents and brother, David Palange.
Our dad will be dearly missed by family and friends. His family was his pride and joy and his greatest
role in his life was being “Papa” to his grandchildren and grand-dogs. Richard was a devoted family
man. He was always the person you could count on and never hesitated to help anyone in need.
At the request of Richard and his family all services will be held privately. He will be laid to rest at the
Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
A special thank you to Matteson Funeral Home for their kindness during this difficult time.
Our lives go on without you
but nothing is the same
we have to hide our heartache
when someone speaks your name
sad are the hearts that love you
silent are the tears that fall
living without you is the
hardest part of all
You did so many things for us
Your heart was so kind and true
And when we needed someone
We could always count on you
The special years will not return
When we are all together
But with the love in our hearts
You walk with us forever
