Richard E Bowman

Richard E Bowman, 95 of West Salem died Wednesday January 3, 2018 at his home.

Funeral Services will be Saturday January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mohican Church of the Brethren with Pastor Paul Bartholomew and Chad Palmer officiating.  Friends will be received two hours prior to the services at the church. Burial will be Mohican Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Mohican Church of the Brethren,7759 N. Elyria Rd. He was born April 5, 1922 in Lattasburg the son of Ray and Martha(Speck)Bowman. He married Beulah(Bower)Bowman on June 15, 1991. She survives. Richard graduated in 1940 from Chester High School. After 33 years of service he retired in 1987  from  Gerstenslager Co., in Wooster. He was also engaged in farming during his life. He was a member of the Mohican Church of the Brethren where he taught Sunday School.  Richard enjoyed the outdoors, collecting and making model farm equipment out of metal and wood. He spent hours in the basement tinkering on many projects.

Surviving in addition to his wife, sons, Dave(Debbie)Bowman  and Gary(Mary Beth)Bowman,a step daughter, Amy Bush all of West Salem, 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Richard  was preceded  in death by his first wife, Beulah(Imhoff) Bowman who died August 13, 1989, daughter, Louise Harris, son, Wayne Bowman, infant sister and a brother, Donald Bowman. Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem is handling the arrangements.
