Raymond L Smith, 93 of Homerville died Tuesday April 1, 2014 at Emeritus in Medina.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday April 5, 2014 @ 10:00a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church in West Salem with Father Tom Stock and Father Carl Uhler Pastor Emeritus officiating. Friends will be received at the Matteson Funeral Home, West Salem on Friday 5-8. Burial in Ridgeville Cemetery in North Ridgeville. He was born August 25, 1920 in Elyria the son of Edward and Muriel ( Snodgrass) Smith .
He served in the US Army during WW II.
He retired 1982 from Harshaw Chemical Company of Elyria where he was a maintenance man.
He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria till 2003 then St. Stephen Catholic Church in West Salem, life member of American Legion Post 12 of Elyria, Elyria Senior Fellowship, a Life member of Veterans of Foreign War and he was an Elyria Catholic High School Booster.
He is survived by his wife Alene (Bowman) Smith whom he has been married to for 72 years., children, Donna (Donald) Neuberger of Brunswick and Larry (Joyce Axx) Smith of Homerville, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
His parents, brothers, Edward & Donald Smith and sisters Winfred Wenger and Betty Grecko died previously.
