Portia A Tanner

Portia A. Tanner 79, of Ashland formerly of West Salem died on July 15, 2025 at Kingston of Ashland. She was born June 26, 1946 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia to mother Blanche L. Fowler. Portia graduated from Northwestern High School in 1964. She retired in 2008 from Premium Building Products in West Salem. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was baptized on June 9,1996. She enjoyed cards, board games, puzzles and enjoyed talking to grand and great grandchildren.

She leaves behind two children: Christina (Denny) Trent of Ashland and Mark (Kim) Tanner of Wooster; seven grandchildren six great grandchildren; sister: Marilyn (Bob) Gallion of Wooster; and longtime friend, Sally Pummell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Tanner who died February 12, 2002; brothers: James McNeal and Larry Fowler.

The memorial service for Portia will be on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM located at the First Baptist Church in West Salem with Pastor Jerry Arman officiating the services. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00AM. Following the services Portia will be inurned at West Salem Cemetery.
