Pauline Elizabeth Crumley, 86, West Salem. Pauline a beloved and beautiful wife, mother, great and grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, surrounded by family at her home, she went to be with Jesus on Thursday October 16, 2014.
It was a milestone and goal for her to be here with her loving husband Miles, for their 65th Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 9, 2014, within their love for each other, Miles and Pauline had four sons: Larry (Beverly) Crumley of Sault Ste Marie, MI, Dave (Sherry) Crumley of Wooster, Durbin (Debra) Crumley of Wooster, Keith (Lillian) Crumley of West Salem, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, brothers, Kenny (Sues) Reed of Ashland, Paul(Betty) Reed of Red Haw, Howard(Barb) Reed of West Salem Denny(Joyce) Reed of Red Haw, sisters, Marilyn (Keith) Switzer of Jonesborough, Tennessee and Betty Hottel of West Salem.
Having a strong Christian faith Pauline attended Red Haw united Methodist Church while growing up and once married in 1949 she became a member of the Congress Community Church.
She is the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Smith) Reed and was one of 11 siblings.
Pauline passion in life was to stay busy while growing up she worked at the Red-Haw General Store for 5 years, after marriage to Miles she loved working on their dairy farm and raising her children. Couldn’t wait to get up at 4:00 a.m. to start every day. She had the drive it took and seldom took a break. She was nicknamed “Sparkplug” on the farm. A visitor at lunchtime it would please her, to say “It’s time to eat.” Her fruit cellar was so full of canned goods each year that friends would say, “If there were a nuclear fallout, I would want to be in Pauline’s basement.” She won many ribbons at the Wayne Co. Fair for such. She was much happier with doing in life than receiving. She really enjoyed having the grandchildren over to visit help and teach them her loving strong morals.
To Know Mom and know she lived her life for Christ, I know she did it right, to put family first was always in her sight, and as the end grew near there was no fear. I could see it on her face the next journey from here, was the walk with God to the loved ones there.
