Michelle A Strachan

Michelle A (McDaniels) Strachan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, at Wayne County Care Center in Wooster. She was born on March 11, 1970, in Cleveland, Ohio, and throughout her life touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Michelle’s early years were shaped by her deep family bonds and her unmistakable zest for life. She grew up in Parma and graduated in 1988 from Valley Forge High School, where she began planting the seeds of lifelong friendships and a spirit of adventure that would carry her through every chapter.

On August 7, 1993, Michelle married her soulmate, Eric Strachan, beginning a union that spanned 33 years. Together, they built a life full of laughter, love, and shared dreams. Michelle’s legacy shines brightest in her devotion to family—a love most joyfully expressed in the time she spent with her cherished daughter Amanda and her grandson Logan. Her grandson held a special place in Michelle’s heart, and nothing brought her more happiness than the moments they shared together.

Michelle’s passions in life painted a picture of warmth and hospitality. Many found joy in joining her for camping trips at Town & Country Camp Resort in West Salem—a place where she found peace in nature, laughter around the campfire, and connection with loved ones. She delighted in cooking for her family, making every meal an occasion, and delighted in playful moments with the family dogs, whose presence she treasured. Her evenings were often spent enjoying classic sitcoms, and Michelle could often be found laughing along with M*A*S*H and Little House on the Prairie and September song by Earth, Wind and Fire—a testament to her appreciation for heartfelt, timeless joys.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Eric Strachan; her daughter, Amanda Strachan; her treasured grandson, Logan Marrone; her brother, James McDaniels; and her sister-in-law, Laura McDaniels. Michelle’s memory is also treasured by those friends and extended family whose lives she brightened.

Michelle was preceded in death by her devoted parents, James and Karen (Chanda) McDaniels. Their love and guidance helped shape the caring, generous woman Michelle became.

Family and friends will gather to honor Michelle’s memory at a memorial service held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 @  1:00p.m. with visitation two hours prior to the service at Matteson Funeral Home, located at 40 Congress Street, West Salem, Ohio with Father Jim Winings officiating.The Matteson Funeral Home staff is honored to serve Michelle's family and the community.
