Marvin Henry Spidel 84 of West Salem died Thursday evening March 10, 2011 at the Good Shepherd in Ashland.
Funeral services will be Monday March 14, 2011 @ 11:00 a.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastor Rick Fox officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Sunday 4:00 to 7:00. Burial in West Salem Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Legion Post 499.

He was born March 21, 1926 in Akron, Ohio the son of John & Lulu Spidel. He served in the US Navy from 1944-1946 during WW II. He graduated from Ohio University in 1950 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture. He played football all four years and was a sigma chi.
He farmed for many years retiring in 2005 and also drove truck. He was a member of the James Stevenson American Legion Post 499 in West Salem. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in West Salem and taught Sunday school.
He is survived by his wife, Martha of 21 years. Children- John (Phoebe) Spidel of West Salem, Marva (Keith) Odren of Michigan, Ted (Cindy) Spidel of Alabama, Fawn (Marty) Ryan of Kentucky, Jill (Dave) Chance of Indiana, Mike (Kathy) Wood of West Salem, Sandra (Bill) Kufner of Ashland, Christina (Greg) DiLeo of Louisiana and Nikki (Bill) Blicha West Salem.
28 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
