Laura Ellen (Helbert) Luhring

Laura Ellen (Helbert) Luhring died on January 22, 2023. She was born on April 21, 1940. She was born in Loudonville, OH, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Marguerite (Markley) Helbert. She graduated from Northwestern High School Class of 1958. She continued her education at the Samaritan School of Nursing in Ashland, OH. Where she graduated from in 1961. Laura began her career as a registered nurse in the Samaritan Hospital Ashland, Ohio, emergency department for two years. She married Karl E. Luhring on November 10, 1961. Laura then continued her nursing career at the College of Wooster at the Student Health Center, spanning forty-two years. When she retired Laura had been a registered nurse for forty-four years.  Laura was a Sunday School Teacher, Boy Scout and 4-H leader. She spent her summers gardening and canning the fruits of her labor. Laura was an avid reader and puzzle solver. She also sewed for her children and grandchildren.

Laura is survived by her husband of 61 years, Karl E. Luhring; children: Mark (Peggy) Luhring of Wooster, OH, Cindy (Bill) Bowers of Orrville, OH, Keith (Tammy) Lurhring of Canal Fulton, OH, Kevin (Buffie) Luhring of Sand Lake, MI, Brian Luhring (Tina Cunningham) of Sterling, OH, Fred Luhring, Loudonville, OH; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings: Benton (Jeannie) Helbert of Wooster, OH, Kathryn Ann (Don) Heerkens, of Rochester, NY, Gary Bender, brother in law, of Salunga, PA, Rebecca (Gary) Helbert – Petersen, of Huron, OH, Phillip Helbert, of Jeromesville, OH and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, Charles and Marguerite (Markley) Helbert and her sister Sharon Bender. The funeral service for Laura will be held Sunday, January 29, 2023 at 1:00PM at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastor Ray Pfahler officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in New Pittsburg Cemetery.
