Karolyn L.(Crosby) Starr “Sissy” 69, of Overton died Friday May 16th, 2025 surrounded by family at Wooster Community Hospital. She was born on April 17th, 1956 to parents Carleton and Marian (Moutoux) Crosby in Lodi, Ohio. She attended Black River schools and later received her GED. Karolyn married her husband of 49 years Ervil Ray Starr on April 28th, 1976. They had 1 son Adam Starr who was the light of her life.
Karolyn worked at many places over the years. L and K restaurant, Johnson’s Rubber factory, Regal Ware, Cleveland Clinic, Rubbermaid, wal-mart and The college of Wooster from which she retired.
Karolyn knew no strangers as those who knew her would say “she had the gift of gab”. She welcomed everyone with open arms and a bright cheerful smile. She and her Husband hosted several foreign exchange students many of whom she still kept in touch with. She had a great sense of humor and loved joking around or playing pranks and other shenanigans. She always made everyone feel like family.
She enjoyed a wide variety of things including attending church at Overton Community Church, sewing, needle point, gardening, her plants, shopping, collecting light house decor especially by Thomas Kincaid, Care Bears, Winnie the Pooh,Reading Stephen King novels and paranormal romance stories, playing Monopoly, Garth Brooks, Jason Mamoa, Iced coffee, her favorite drink Diet Dr Pepper. She loved horses and her schnauzers which were like her children, and so much more, but most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends.
Karolyn leaves behind her husband Ervil Starr of Overton, Son Adam Starr of Wooster sister Kathy Jewell of Ashland, and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Gilbert (Patricia) Crosby of Peoria,IL , Phillip Crosby and his wife Lorena of West Salem, her sister Margaret Brislinger and husband Stephen of Fredericksburg.
A Memorial Service will be held at Overton Community Church, 5575 Mechanicsburg Road, Wooster, Ohio on Saturday May 31, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with a meal and visiting to follow starting at noon.
