John M. Chenevey 69, of Wooster died on February 1, 2025 at his daughter’s home. John was born August 27, 1955 in Wooster, Ohio to parents Walter J and Rita V. (Schromen) Chenevey. He graduated from Waynedale High School in 1973. From the time John was a teenager he enjoyed working on small engines, especially lawn mowers. Due to his passion for working on small engines he worked for Rubbermaid as a machinist for over 30 years. John was the type of man that felt that anything could be fixed. When he wasn’t working on small engines, he enjoyed fishing, building and racing soapbox derby cars and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John leaves behind his four daughters: Angela M. Chenevey, Jennifer L. Chenevey, Elizabeth A. Chenevey (Brandan Clason) and Christina M. (Joshua) Williams; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three siblings: Ken (Val) Chenevey, Jim (Cindy) Chenevey and Jean (Fred) Schludecker. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral for John will be Friday, February 7th, 2025 at the Matteson Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with Chaplin Phil Klinefelter officiating the service. The visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00AM-1:00 PM. Burial will be held directly following the funeral at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster.
