With deep sadness and love, our family announces the passing of our beloved Grammy, Joan Catherine Kajack. Who left this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and unconditional love.
She was the heart of our family—a steady presence who nurtured us, lifted us with her kindness, and guided us with her faith and resilience. Her home was our sanctuary, where everyone felt welcomed, loved, and safe.
Joan had a lifelong love for animals, especially horses. She found peace and joy in their presence, and her gentle spirit seemed to speak to them as easily as it did to people. Whether caring for her animals or simply observing them with admiration, her compassion for all living things was a defining part of who she was.
She also valued learning and personal growth, and she proudly earned a degree in arts from Ashland University—a remarkable accomplishment that reflected her creativity, perseverance, and commitment to self-expression.
Joan lived a life rooted in service, compassion, and grace centered around her family. Whether she was cooking a holiday feast, offering quiet advice, or simply holding our hands through difficult times, she gave generously and asked for little in return. Her strength carried us through life’s challenges, and her love remains the foundation of our family.
She leaves behind three surviving children, Elizabeth Kajack, Terri Shamleffer, and Katie Kajack , 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and countless others whose lives she touched with her gentle spirit. Though we grieve her loss, we are grateful for the time we had, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, her love remains woven into the fabric of our lives. We will carry her spirit with us. Married for 61 beautiful years, she now walks hand in hand once more with her beloved husband, in a place where time no longer separates them
We love you, Grammy. You will be loved and remembered always. May your soul rest and find the quiet it so richly deserves.
