Hazel D (Cogar) Lane

March 5, 1939 — October 5, 2022

Hazel D. Lane 83 of Ashland died Wednesday October 5, 2022 at her home.

She was born March 5, 1939 in Webster Springs, W. Virginia the daughter of Noah and Lula (Hall) Cogar.

Hazel married Gerald Lane on February 8, 1988.  They were married for 34 years. He passed away on July 23, 2022.

She and her husband; Gerald spent winter months in Alabama for 16 years where they made many friends. Hazel enjoyed spending time with Gerald fishing and watching the Cleveland Indians. She loved her family and her church families immensely. But her greatest love was for her great grandchildren. Hazel was well known in the community for her famous cookies. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Salem.

Hazel is survived by children; Gean Riffel, Martin (Lori) Riffel and Dennis (Carol) Riffel, stepchildren; Gary (Kandy) Lane, Jeff Lane, Brenda Lane (Ed Amend) and Jeremy (Allison) Lane, grandchildren; Jeremy Riffel, Joey Riffel, Chad (Taylor) Riffel, Raquel Copley, Derick (Meghan) Riffel and Haleigh Riffel, step grandchildren; Samantha Lane, Alex Lane, Zackary Lane, Carson, Annie, Luke Lavengood, great grandchildren; Alexa, Belyse, Broc, Zayne, Brantley, Layne, Rett, Denver, Bexleigh, Heath and Jovie and a sister; Bonnie Mueller of Glendale, West  Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her first husband; Roy Riffel in 1986, second husband; Gerald Lane in 2022, parents and 11 siblings.

Funeral Service will be Monday October 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in West Salem with Pastor Jerry Arman officiating. Visitation for Hazel will be Sunday evening 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 26 Market Street in West Salem. Burial will be in Nankin Cemetery. Memorials contributions may be given to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or First Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 31, West Salem, Ohio 44287.
