Estella Magdalene Boothe

West Salem

Estella Magdalene Boothe, 82, of West Salem, OH, passed away at HMC Hospice of Medina County, surrounded by loved ones, on October 22nd, 2026. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, aunt and friend whose absence will be deeply felt.

She was born in Earling, WV on April 20th, 1944, in a coal company house. She graduated from Man High School in 1962. She married James Edward Boothe on November 16th, 1963 in Bruno, WV. The two moved to Cleveland, OH that same year where they raised their two children. She worked for Aristocrat Lakewood (now known as O'Neill Healthcare Lakewood) for 31 years until her retirement in 2006, when she and her husband moved to West Salem, OH.

Showing love to those around her came naturally for Estella (or Mag to those who knew her best), something she honed into a craft by honoring birthdays and celebrating holidays with her family throughout the years. Making friends also came easily to her as evidenced by the enduring friendship with her former co-worker Laura Modawell, a relationship nurtured throughout their retirements, even in her final days. She and her precious neighbor Sandy's consistent weekly luncheon outings were something she cherished, deepening their love. Love of the Lord and Faith Christian Church, where she regularly attended in Medina, OH, was also deeply important to her.

Estella was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Boothe; her parents Emerson Adkins and Carrie (Hunt) Adkins; her brother Clarence Adkins; her sister Carolyn Adkins; and her cherished dog Bingo. She is survived by her daughter Sherri (Vernon) Shepherd; her son James (Angela) Boothe; her grandsons Matthew McNeely (Jamie), Brandon Shepherd, Jimmy (Amber) Boothe and Michael Boothe (Olivia). She was expecting her first great-granddaughter, Lily Grace Boothe. She is also survived by her niece Dana (Adkins) Toler, (who she loved like a daughter) as well as many other nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews. Lastly, she is survived by several dear friends who she truly loved.
