Ellsworth (Elzy) Hines 80 of West Salem died Sat Sept 22, 2012 at his home.
Funeral services will be Wed. Sept. 26, 2012 @ 11:00 a.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastors Beryl Baum and Matthew Potosky officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00. Burial will be in Hazzard Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Post 499 in West Salem. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive , Ashland, Ohio 44805. He was born November 8, 1931 in West Salem the son of Elmer and Mildred (Gault) Hines.
He graduated in 1951 from West Salem High School.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Ellsworth retired after 45 years from National Latex in Ashland where he was a supervisor. He was also engaged in farming.
He was a member of the James Stevenson American Legion Post 499 of West Salem where he served as sergeant of arms for many years. He attended the Albion Brethren Church.
To Ellsworth, family and friends were very important to him. The love he had for his family was the most purest and unconditional emotion that could ever be felt by a human heart. He was strong, kind and sometimes a little ornery. A man that would offer help to anyone in need. He was well respected and very much loved. We will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his wife- Ann (Kirkpatrick) Hines whom he married in 1956.
Three children- William and Cathy Hines of Loudonville, Teresa Scott of West Salem and Laura and Shannon Hamilton of Ashland.
Five grandchildren- Abigail, Caitlin, Megan, Trevor and Allysa
Three sisters- Dorothy Dickinson of West Salem, Beryl and Robert Baum of West Salem and Betty and Ted Workinger of West Salem.
Three brothers- Robert and LaVonne Hines of West Salem, Donald and Juanita Hines of West Salem and Eugene and Judy Hines of Wooster
His parents, sister Margaret Jane Hines and two brothers Doyle and James Hines died previously.
