Dorothy J. Spring

Dorothy J. Spring, of Polk, Ohio, passed away at her home on September 23, 2026. She was born on November 14, 1930, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to parents; Clyde and Violet (Teeter) Grumbling.

Dorothy was a graduate of Ashland University, where she earned her bachelor degree in education. She went on to serve as a third-grade teacher with the South Central School District in Greenwich, a role through which she touched the lives of many young students. She also found deep joy in spending time with her family, a source of lasting happiness throughout her life.

She is survived by her children, Bobbi Spring, Curt Spring and his wife, Lori Spring, and Marlene Scott. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Heidi, Hope, Heather, Holly, Adam, and Jesselyn, 6 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by her brother, Raymond Grumbling of Wisconsin. Her family will carry forward the memory of her love, her devotion to family, and the care she shared throughout her life.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her Husband; Robert Spring a son; Timothy Spring, her parents; and by her siblings;  Alvin, Elverda, Ronald, and Edwin.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Matteson Funeral Home, 40 Congress Street, West Salem, Ohio 44287. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 12:45 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, Ohio with Pastor jerry Arman officiating.
