Dorothy Jean (Mcbride) Havel

July 26, 1934 — January 22, 2019

Dorothy “Jean” Havel, 84, of West Salem died Monday January 22, 2019 at Hospice of Medina County. Jean was born July 26, 1934 in West Salem the daughter of Charles and Bessie (Bahl) McBride. She graduated from Lodi High School in 1952. She was a home maker for most of her life and also worked at the Wooster City School System for 16 years. Jean served on the Board of Directors at the Farmers State Bank for many years. Jean was married to John Havel for 33 years who died in 2006.

Jean is survived by 2 children Sandy (Dave) Newcomb, Akron and Tom Shaw, West Salem; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John, parents; a brother, Charles McBride Jr.; and a sister Mary Ida Brainard.

Funeral Service will be Saturday January 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Matteson Funeral Home, in West Salem with Pastor Lori Weaver officiating. Visitation will be  9:30 AM – 11:00 AM prior to the service.  Buried in West Salem Cemetery.
