Daniel W. Freitag

Daniel W. Freitag 76, of West Salem died Sunday Jan 22, 2023 at his home. He was born September 19, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Edwin and Betty (Nieberding) Freitag. Dan graduated from Black River High School in 1964. He served in the United States Navy. Dan then married his high school sweetheart Jane Huggins on August 5, 1968. Dan and his wife were owners of Elite Transportation since 1994. He enjoyed hosting parties for his friends and family, grilling, visiting with everyone who came out to see him at the shop.

Dan is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter, Stasie (Mike); grandchildren: Sierra, Brandon (Nicole), Jarrod (Caitlyn), Noah (Kaitlyn) and Kali; great grandchildren: Dallas, Karmyn and Olive; sister, Jacquie McIntyre; brother, John (Pam) Freitag and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Matthew. The Funeral Service for Dan will be Friday January 27, 2023 at 11:00 at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, Ohio with Pastor Tyler Dunlap officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park, Ashland, Ohio.
