Daniel W. Altfather, 89 of Polk went home to be the Lord on March 3, 2025 at his home.

He was born November 17, 1935 in Akron, Ohio the son of Nevin and Viola (Sechler) Altfather.

Dan graduated from Polk High School where he was the Valedictorian of his class.

He served in the US Army from 1958- to 1960.

Dan was engaged in farming all his life. He also had been employed at Eagle Rubber Company, Landmark and Mohican Industries all of Ashland and Rex Roth of Wooster.

He attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Ashland.

Dan is survived by his wife Nyla Sue Altfather whom he married on February 14, 1981, children; Julie Ann (James) Cline, Roberta Linn (Richard) Thompson, Rebecca Sue Kelly and Rick Bowen and David W. (Judy) Jones, 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, his dog; Max and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and a son-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; Aletha (Holmes) Altfather, a son; James Daniel Altfather, a sister; Judith Altfather, infant brother and his parents.

Graveside Service for Dan will be Saturday March 8, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Polk Cemetery with Pastor Harry Strachan officiating. Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem is assisting the family with arrangements. If you have a memory or photo to share of Dan please do so at mattesonfh.com
