Clayton E. Bowling 91 of West Salem died Friday morning March 23, 2012 at the Good Shepherd Home in Ashland.

Funeral services will be Wed. March 28, 2012   at 11:00 a.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastor Brad Igram officiating.
Friends will be received Tuesday evening   from 6:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.

He was born November 9, 1920 in Beckley, West Virginia the son of James and Manervia (Meadows) Bowling.
He served in the US Army during WW II where he was a POW at Stalag 9-B, Bad Orb, Germany.
Clayton had been employed at American Safety in Medina, operated the Homerville Sohio Station and the Black River School District where he was a janitor.

He was a member of the Truth Baptist Church in West Salem, foundering member of the Board of Directors for the Black River Comedy Club, Northeast Ohio Chapter in Wooster of the Ohio Ex- Prisoners of War where he served as a Sargent of Arms.

He is survived by his wife Leoma (Maddy) Bowling whom he married April 8, 1943, three sons Gary Bowling of West Salem, James (Holly Miller) Bowling of Sullivan, Ralph (Lorie) Bowling of Homerville and two daughters Betty (Allan) Havel of Homerville and Janet Michalak of Homerville and
many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His parent, two brothers and a sister died previously.
