Clara Mae (Graham) Mcgarvey

Clara Mae [Kitty] McGarvey passed on to the next life February 12, 2014
Born 20 November, 1925 in Hollidaysburg, PA the daughter of Ethel Claire Fuller and J.B. Graham and youngest sister of Doris Manos and Fredrick Fuller Graham.
Kitty lead the marching band at Clearfield High School, PA and studied music and art.
She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Clearfield Hospital in 1946, where her sister Doris had been a student and while her mother was Director of Nurses. After graduating she worked for the Tuberculosis Society traveling the back roads of the Pennsylvania mountains educating the residents and guaranteeing that the animals were not infected. She also was employed for a time as a nurse at Booth Memorial Maternity Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.
She married Robert C. McGarvey of Irvona, PA in 1948 and they had 2 daughters, Kay Suzann Raplenovich of West Salem, OH and Judi Lynn Fischer of Vermilion, OH.
Kitty and Bob lived in Schenectady, NY, Cleveland, OH, DuBois, PA and Wooster, OH. They were married 61 years at his passing.
Kitty knit beautiful garments for herself, her family and for a sweater designer in Cleveland.
She studied art while living in Cleveland and created oil paintings of her grandchildren and the nature that surrounded her. She loved to attend Cleveland Orchestra concerts at Severance Hall, visit the Cleveland Art Museum and sing in the church choir in Wooster, OH.
Kitty and Bob traveled to all 50 of the US states and many countries in Europe.
In her later years she delighted in her grand children Aaron Rapljenović, Sondra Fischer, Scott Fischer, Katie Fischer Lalonde, great grandchildren Maliq, Aubree, Avana, Bangaly, and Blake. She enjoyed the animals at Kay’s farm and faithfully wrote letters to her family and friends.
Her passing was in the home of her daughter Kay Raplenovich and husband Bob after a fall.
Burial will be Monday February 17, 2014 @ noon in  Crown Crest Memorial Park at ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Clearfield, Pa   with her husband Robert and next to his parents Viola and Alvin McGarvey.
A memorial gathering will be held April 12,  for family and friends in West Salem, OH.
In lew of flowers, donations can be made to the Wooster United Methodist Church, Wooster, Ohio for use by the church choir or Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio  44805.  Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem is assisting the family with the arrangements.  Online condolences may be shared at the funeral home website @www.mattesonfh.com.
