Charles A. Roach

February 4, 1937 — February 18, 2026

Charles Albert Roach, longtime resident of Renton, Washington, passed away on February 18, 2026. Born in Wooster, Ohio, he was the son of Otto and Gertrude (Trigg) Roach.

After graduating from high school, Charles enlisted in the United States Navy, where he traveled the world and eventually made his home in Washington State. In the 1970s, he returned to Ohio and began working for Wooster City Schools, a role in which he was known for his reliability, humor, and warm presence.

Charles was a proud member of the Eagles and Moose lodges, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships he built over the years. His hobbies included playing pool, bowling, savoring red wine, remembering his days playing AAA softball, and spending time fishing and hunting — activities that brought him peace and joy throughout his life.

He is survived by his children: Kevin Roach (Idaho), Mary Quantrell (Washington), and Marty Roach-Quantrell (Washington). Charles leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren: David (Jennifer) Quantrell, Sonja (Ryan) Last, Jennifer (Timothy) Stallworth, Tony (Jessica) Roach, Kara (Kevin) Rodriguez, Justin (Jennifer) Sands, Michael (Rebecca) Johnston, and Jordan (Jenna) Sands, along with 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha J. Roach; his parents, Otto and Gertrude Roach; and his siblings, Jean L. Arnold, Arthur Wolpole, Ernest Harvey, Thomas Barrick, and Caroline Nyhart.

A graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Homerville on Thursday, March 5, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Jeremiah Scadden.

A celebration of life will follow from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Cobblestone Hotel, 1720 N. Main Street, Orrville. Charles will be laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery in Homerville, Ohio.

His family will remember him for his humor, his stories, his competitive spirit at the pool table, and the deep love he held for those around him.
