Charles Randall Porter

Charles (Randy) Randall Porter, 79, of Wooster died on January 8, 2024 at Doylestown Health Center. He was born October 7, 1944 in Akron, Ohio to parents Charles and Alma (nee Schrock) Porter (both deceased). A 1962 graduate of Smithville High School, Randy attended The Ohio State University for one year before serving in the US Navy from 1964-1969 during the Vietnam conflict. After Randy’s years in the Navy, he worked a short time for Weather Seal in Barberton, Ohio, but spent most of his career in sales at Kidron Body, Inc., Kidron, Ohio. There he was presented with the Elite Million$ Club award for his sales achievements. After Kidron, Randy worked for Todco, Advanced Auto, multiple car dealerships and, finally, worked with the Amish communities of Wayne and Holmes counties as a driver. Randy was very active in his community, most recently he was involved in GWRRA, Wooster Elks, Smithville Ruritans, Wooster Rebounders, James Stevenson American Legion Post 499, and played in the Barberton Silver Softball League. Other activities included a commission as an Honorable Kentucky Colonel, attending Petty Driving at the Atlanta Speedway in 2006 and, for 11 years, he played Santa Claus to Linda’s Mrs. Claus to the delight of many children. Randy is survived by his wife Linda (Schmale) Porter who he married March 20, 2010. Children: Tony (Alison) Jaeb, Megan Porter, Justin (Kendra) Porter and Tim Stine; grandchildren: Natalie, Charlie, Alexandria, Connor, Cooper, Cuyler, and Chloe; and brother, Rex (Debra) Porter. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Matthew Stine. The funeral service will be Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Congress Community Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tadd Sponseller officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 12 from 6pm - 8pm at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem and 10am - 11am on Saturday January 13 at the Congress Community Church.
