Carole Ann (Landis) Lawson passed away peacefully with the light of Heaven in her eyes on March 24 2025. Her daughter, Erin, special nurse Heather, and aide Sasha were at her side at Burbank Parke, where she resided for nearly 6 years. Carole was born December 12th, 1941 to Clyde and Mary (Martie) Landis. She was the oldest daughter of 8 kids, and she played a huge hand in helping care for her younger siblings. She was a proud 1959 graduate of Lodi High School, where she made lifelong friends, and when she was still able, she attended the reunions and even went on a cruise with her classmates. Carole worked at Rubbermaid for more than 30 years. In 1979, a tall, dark haired man 12 years her junior became her euchre partner during breaks. It must've went well because on August 17th, 1980, she married that young man, Paul Lawson. They blended their families from their previous marriages. If you asked Carole why she would go on to have a baby 5 days after her 40th birthday, she'd tell you, "Paul and I decided the house was too quiet. So we had Erin". With Carole's eye for decorating and design and Paul's master carpentry skills, they turned a shack on 12 acres into a beautiful home that would allow their entire extended families to meet for huge gatherings. Carole had to rent tables and chairs from the school to accommodate everyone! Everyone fondly remembers her bread pudding and Fudge. Her favorite holiday was Christmas- not just decorating, but making sure everyone- especially the kids- had a gift under the tree. Every year, she loved to take Erin shopping for children-in-need at Christmas. In the summer, she loved having cookouts with huge family softball games. She and Paul also hosted family and friends at Town and Country Campground for years. Carole's thoughts about life were simple: work hard, take care of your family, and if you see a need, fill it. She never hesitated to stand up for what was right. Her work ethic was unmatched. Her motto later in life was "take the good with the bad". Carole extended her caretaking role when she had grandchildren. Megan, Nikki, and Liv were her pride and joy. She loved building snowmen with them, shopping, taking them to ballets and movies, having sleepovers, and cheering them on. After her beloved Paul passed in 2002, she once again saw a need and filled it. She signed up at church to take a meal to a man whose wife was passing away. After she left, the woman told her husband to "call Carole up for coffee" when the time came. Fast forward to October 11, 2008, and that man, Paul Ickes, married Carole. Although marriage didn't work for them, they still loved each other. He still came to visit her faithfully up until he passed in 2024. Carole was baptized by Pastor Paul Bartholomew at Mohican Church of the Brethren on February 22, 2009. She enjoyed attending church activities and made many great friends there. In addition to her parents, waiting with open arms to welcome her Home were her daughters, Chrissy Lamson and Gwen Mullen; both of her Pauls; brothers Ray, Roger, Ken, Chuck, and Don; her in-laws Robert and Delores Riddle, and special sisters-in-law Peggy, Marianne, and Susie. Left to carry on her amazing legacy are her children: Erin Burdette (Corey English), David (Lucy) Wolfe, Todd (Christine) Lawson and family, and Carrie Lawson-Kemper and family. She is also survived by her 3 very special granddaughters Megan Mullen (Joe Branham), Nicolle (Jay) Gehring, and Livi Burdette who were the lights of her life. In addition, sister Marilyn Kinney and family, Sister-in-law Diane Landis (niece Laura Richardson) and family, special niece Dee "Pooh Bear" (Jeff) Smith and family, and great-granddaughter Keanna Butler are left with precious memories of Carole. Charlotte (Mike) Slarb and Annette (Kurt) Tinney were very dear to her. Also surviving are her friends, Lois Putka, Carol Morrow, Elaine Gibson , Millie Trigg; Lynn McNier, Jan West, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Last but not least, Carole leaves behind her amazing family at Burbank Parke. Many of you were her daughters, granddaughters, and sons, and you will forever be a part of our family.
