Bobby A Smith

Bobby A. Smith, of West Salem, Ohio, passed away on September 23, 2026, at his home in West Salem, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 20, 1935, in West Salem to parents; Wilbur and Nina (Harpold) Smith, a community that remained central to his life.

A graduate of Northwestern High School, Bobby built a life grounded in hard work, family, and familiar places. He was the owner and operator of B & J Machine in West Salem and also worked at Sarver Paving in Ashland for many years. He was also a former member of the Town & Country Fire Department for years, giving his time in service to his community.

In 1953, Bobby married Janice (Sneddon) Smith, beginning a marriage that was one of the proudest parts of his life. He enjoyed deer hunting, playing cards, and bird watching, and he was always happy to settle in to watch his favorite television show, The Benny Hill Show. Above all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and those moments brought him lasting joy.

Bobby is survived by his daughter, Bobbi Rogers of West Salem. He also leaves behind his granddaughter, Tina Aubrey of Columbus, and Tina’s husband, Dwight; his grandson, Bobby Walker of West Salem, and Bobby’s wife, Allegra; and his great-grandchildren, Ryker, Bella, Braylynn, and Damon. He will be remembered with love by his family and by all who shared in his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, who died in 2010; by his parents, Wilbur and Nina Smith; and by his siblings, Eugene Smith, Bill Smith, Herb Smith, and Sue Morris.

Per Bobby's request there will be no services.
