Bernadette M (Stypa) Kaniecki

Bernadette M Kaniecki, 71 of Ashland died Thursday January 2, 2020 at UH Samaritan Hospital of Ashland. Bernadette was born March 20, 1948 in Cleveland to parents Stanley and Mary (Smolinski) Stypa. She married her loving husband James Kaniecki on July 26, 1969, he survives. She retired from Richland county health department and was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church of West Salem and Catholic Daughters at St. Edward in Ashland.

Bernadette loved her grandchildren and enjoyed shopping for them. She spent many hours in her vegetable and flower gardens. She is survived by her husband James; children: Mark (Tanna) Kaniecki of Centerburg, David (Ann Marie) Kaniecki of Westlake, Jacqueline Kaniecki of Akron; six grandchildren; sisters: Connie (Ken) Ingram, Mary Lou (Pete) Nedbalski, Laurie (Thomas) Larkin; brothers: John Stypa and Tony Stypa; and sister in law: Gingy Stypa. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Joseph Stypa, Gerard Stypa and Paul Stypa.

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday January 7, 2020 at 10:30AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Fathers Thomas Stock and Rod Kreidler officiating. There will be a visitation on Monday from 6-8PM at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem. Memorials may be given to St. Stephen Catholic Church, 44 Britton Street West Salem, Ohio 44287.
