Rodney Lee Pierson

Rodney L. Pierson, of Freedom, PA passed away on Saturday March 23, 2019 in Elyria, Ohio. He was born February 7, 1969 in Elyria, Ohio to James and Norma Pierson. He graduated from Northwestern High School in West Salem, OH in 1986.

Rodney worked many jobs including pizza maker, heavy equipment salesman, used car salesman, and radio D.J.  Most recently he lived in Freedom, PA and was a taxi driver in Pittsburgh, PA. This was the job he loved the most and it was well-suited to his personality.

Rodney always had a smile on his face. His sense of humor he shared with those he loved. He was generous with family and friends and was never too busy to lend a helping hand. Rodney also taught himself how to play guitar and loved playing it so much that he usually took it with him when he traveled.

He leaves behind a father, James, and stepmother, Anna of West Virginia; a brother, James, of Ohio; a brother, Mike, of Pennsylvania; a sister, Laura Smith and her husband Larry and their two children, Garrett and Brenna, all of Missouri; and two stepbrothers, Rob Johnston and his children, of Colorado and Chuck Johnston and his children, of North Carolina; and many more cousins and friends not to mention the regular customers who became his friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma (Draper) Pierson.  A memorial service is planned for April 6, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, Ohio for all family and friends.
