Robert E Barr, 88 of West Salem died Thursday evening April 4, 2019 at his home in West Salem.
He was born August 18, 1930 in Ashland Co the son of Charles Henry and Sarah (Dixon) Barr.
Bob served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He married Rosa (Miller) Barr on February 16, 1951. She survives.
He retired from Gerstenslager Company in Wooster where he was a maintenance and tool repairman.
Bob was a former member of the Town & Country Fire Department for over 50 years. While on the department he served as fire chief for eight years.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa, children, Richard Barr of Creston, Rebecca Maki of Brunswick, Roberta VanCanegham of Portsmouth, VA and Robert (Lyda) Barr of West Salem, nine grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, sisters, Kathryn Yarbrough of Ashland, Zella Stelzer of Arizona and Bonnie Chambers of Texas .
His parents died previously.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday April 9, 2019 at 11:30 AM at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to the time of the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville. Memorial may be given to All Caring Hospice, 5000 Rockside Road, Unit 100, Independence, Ohio 44131.
