Marilyn Amber (Yeagley) Boatner, 84, of Wooster peacefully went to be with Jesus surrounded by her husband Gene and all of her children in her home on November 2, 2018.
Marilyn was born on April 28th, 1934, in Canaan, Ohio to the late Orlo and Edna Yeagley; she was one of 14 children. On June 3rd, 1951 she married Charles “Gene” Boatner, who survives. This year they celebrated their 67th year of marriage.
Referred to by everyone who loved her as “Grandma”, she was the personification of selfless love and faith. She spent countless hours in her kitchen making cookies for others - praying over each one as she prepared and delivered it. She loved serving in the church nursery, crocheting, cooking and supporting her family. A good and faithful servant until the end, in her final hours she said for everyone to “Just do right and love Jesus.”
She is survived by her husband; Children Gail (Robin) Shell, Cherri (Steve) Doerfler, Tammy (Dave) Hoff, Troy (Chris) Boatner, Jennifer (Kelvin) Bond; brothers and sisters Eloise Bell, Loretta Christian, Marge Huffman, Kenneth Yeagley, Michael Yeagley, Thomas Yeagley and Peg Larsen; Many nieces and nephews; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Preceding her in death were her sons Scott, Kenneth, and Todd; brothers and sisters, Beverly Shepherd, Richard, Gary, infant Terry, Janice Murray and infant Shirley.
Friends and family may call from 11:30-1:00 on Tuesday November 6th at West Hill Baptist Church in Wooster. A Funeral service will follow. Burial in Congress Cemetery. The family is being served by Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem. Online condolences can be shared at mattesonfh.com.
