Jane E Keener, 69 of West Salem died Monday evening October 14, 2019 at Smithville-Western Care Center in Wooster.
She was born October 24, 1949 in Ashland the daughter of Russell and Ruth (Ickes) Keener.
Jane graduated in 1968 from Northwestern High School and The Ohio State University where she received her bachelor degree in education.
She had been an active church member throughout her life first of Fair Haven Church of the Brethren, Emanuel United Church of Christ and Congress Community Church (Federated). When her disability prevented her from attending services, Jane continued to participate in Bible study and was a prayer warrior. The ninth of nine children, she cared for her elderly parents so they could continue to live in their home. Jane often helped care for her many nieces and nephews, helped them with their homework, and taught them how to play cards, and entertained them. She shared with them her love of reading, crosswords and jigsaw puzzles and jokes. She was the greatest of aunts.
Jane is survived by her sister, Virginia Keener Brenneman, brothers, Karl (Nancy) Keener, Richard (Kay) Keener and Philip (Jean) Keener, sister-in-law, Donna Jean Keener, brothers-in-law, Adrian Buchholz and Chester Welty, 24 nieces and nephews, 52 great nieces and nephews and 49 great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Carol Keener Buchholz, Marilyn Keener Weygandt, Mavis Keener Welty, brother, John Keener, infant brother, James Keener, brothers-in-law, James Brenneman and Harold Weygandt, nephew, Richard Russell Weygandt, niece, Karla Keener and infant niece, Cynthia Ann Keener.
Funeral Service will be Monday October 21, 2019 at noon at Congress Community Church with Pastor Christopher Cottrel officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM to the time of the service at the church. Burial in Fair Haven Cemetery, West Salem. Memorials may be given to WCW of Congress Community Church (Federated) or to the Congress Community Church Scholarship Fund, 10691 Franchester Road, west Salem, Ohio 44287
