George W Wood Sr., 90 of Burbank died Wednesday July 17, 2019 at The Avenue at Wooster.

George was born February 8, 1929 in Brooklyn, Ohio the son of Walter and Eva (James) Wood.  In 1950, he married Seldonia (Serrano) Wood in Cleveland. She survives.

 

George  was a retired teamster truck driver with over 30 years of service.

He was a member of St Stephen Catholic Church for over 40 years where he had been active in various church positions for many years. He was also a member of Teamsters Local 407. George enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and took meticulous care of his lawn.

 

He is survived by his wife, Seldonia, children; Donna (Alvin) Shortridge of Oklahoma, Diane(Steve)Gartner of Cincinnati, George (Nancy) Wood Jr . of Burbank and Amelia(Alexander) Murph of Norton, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, brother, David(Marie) Wood of Alabama and Betty Yoder of Florida.

His parents, daughter; Paula, sisters; Edith Tokar and Maude Wood and brothers; James, Robert and Walter Wood Jr. died previously.

 

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday July 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St Stephen Catholic Church, 44 Britton Street, W. Salem with Father Thomas Stock officiating.

Memorials may be given to St. Stephen Catholic Church or a donor of your choice.
